I'm here guys to help you upgrade your HTC MAGIC 32A (FIRMWARE 1.5) to
android 2.3.7 also known as Gingerbread...BUT I DON'T HAVE ANY THING TO
DO WHEN YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!IT IS YOUR OWN PROBLEM WHEN YOU BRICK
IT!I'M ONLY HELPING.
HTC MAGIC :
So first go to this link.you need to download a universal androot from here : http://blog.23corner.com/tag/universalandroot/ or here : http://modmymobile.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=28186
now install that and root your device (don't install superuser),then download terminal emulator from here : http://www.freeware4android.net/google-android-2-2-1-device-1909/android-terminal-emulator-download-56379.html .... then install that also.
then download the recovery image file from my mediafire : http://www.mediafire.com/view/?71homxhmi646wei
and rename that to recovery.img then put it in your sd card ( you have to put it in the root of the sd card not in folders etc. )
after that open your terminal emulator then type this (you have to type it right,follw the spaces etc)
su (then a no. sign will appear like this #)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
then it will flash the recovery and there you go.You have a new recovery.after that turn your phone off.after turning it off,press the power and home button at the same time,you'll enter the recovery,go to backup/restore.DO A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST,I REPEAT DO A NANDROID BACK UP ...after the backup shut your phone down.
after that download this HBOOT from here : http://www.mediafire.com/?i5772lyljm6h0i9
then put it in the sd card again,go to recovery and flash zip from sd card.after that go see if your HBOOT is 1.76.2007
you can see your HBOOT by turning off your phone and pressing the power and back button.If its complete,try to turn on your phone first ( check if its still working) if its still working its good but if it's not working contact me or something and i'll help you.
Next step is flash the newest radio.download it here : http://www.wuala.com/Android%20Resources/ROM/HTC%20Magic/Radios/New/radio-6.35.16.19NewRadio.img/
flash the radio from recovery then check if its successful like what you did with hboot.
You should now have something like this :
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-1.76.2007
RADIO-6.35.16.19
Do another BACKUP so if something happens you have another safe zone.
The last step is flashing the rom,youll need to download this rom (i've been using this rom for a long time and i'm really satisfied) from here : http://www.mediafire.com/?t91n0481ur922t6.
FIRST WIPE EVERYTHING FROM RECCOVERY EXCEPT THE BATTERY!! AGAIN WIPE EVERYTHING EXCEPT BATTERY,then,Flash the rom from recovery (remember that it's a little long to flash, so full its battery first before flashing it)
after flashing the ROM see if it works,if it does not work flash the latest backup and flash again the ROM,
After that when the rom works.... you're HTC MAGIC IS NOW CGX MAGIC (ANDROID 2.3.7) :).thats all guys :)
